MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) — The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) is strengthening its ties with DRRM stakeholders as it braces for the Gawad KALASAG (KAlamidad at Sakuna LAbanan SAriling Galing ang Kaligtasan) Award.

LDRRMO III Robroy Adil Macarambon said the PDRRMC has participated in the disaster response tilt before but because of the Marawi siege, the Council’s efforts were focused on assistance to the recovery and rehabilitation of the city.

He said Gawad KALASAG is the country’s premier annual award for outstanding organizations, institutions, groups, and individuals who have exemplary measures and preparations in disaster prevention and response as well as climate change adaptation programs.

It is also the principal mechanism by which the National DRRMC advances awareness of the best DRRM practices and humanitarian response and action.

Macarambon enjoined provincial department heads and representatives of national agencies to share their best practices and contributions in proving that Lanao del Sur is a resilient province. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
