MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–Piagapo vice mayor Ali Sumandar urged barangay officials and residents of Kalungunan village to watch the road construction project being implemented in their barangay to ensure its timely completion.

In a recent peace dialogue with village residents, Sumandar pointed out the crucial role of villagers in looking after road construction and other government infrastructure projects in far-flung communities so that its implementation will not be hampered.

In January, this year, the construction work for the Kalungunan -Lininding road was halted due to a shooting incident that killed two construction workers.

The vice mayor told Kalungunan residents that Provincial Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. has now given the green light for the resumption of the construction works.

Implemented by the Provincial Government, the 6.35 km road will traverse Barangays Udalo, Kalangnan, and Lininding in Piagapo to the municipality of Munai in Lanao del Norte. Its completion is seen to improve the trading sector in the municipality when completed.

In response, community leaders and local officials of Barangay Kalungunan led by its chairman Salahoden Abduljabbar expressed their full support for the completion of the road project.

They agreed that the road, once completed, will certainly provide them respite as it will become easy for them to ferry people, especially during emergencies, and transport their produce down to the town’s center and neighboring municipalities.

Also present during the dialogue were Punong Barangays of Lininding and Udalo. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
