COTABATO CITY – Giving of goods, including clientele-capacitating awards, has characterized the 3rd foundation anniversary celebration of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), with the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) sustaining the streak at the end of the weeklong fete on Friday.

The OCM, which maintains special programs for emergency medical and relief assistance, was joined by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) through its Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidents (READi) unit in the distribution ceremony that capped the weeklong commemoration.

The ceremony was held Friday morning in front of the BARMM’s Executive Building here, the same spot where host officials led by Chief Minister Ahod “Hadji Murad” Ebrahim, Seminior Minister Abdulraof Macacua and Parliament Speaker Pangalian Balindong kicked off the celebration on Jan. 17.

MILF Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo graced the fete-capping event, leading the distribution of goods from the OCM’s Project Tabang and his ministry’s READI unit to representatives of 22 barangays of this city and of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

READI workers said Minister Sinarimbo, instead of distributing the goods to hundreds of residents in the 22 villages that could take longer time, tasked the 22 barangay officials to ensure that their respective residents would equally or proportionally share from the assistance.

The same arrangement was opted for the representative of the BIAF-MILF to distribute the assistance to their own communities, READI workers said.

They mentioned no quantity in goods distributed, quoting only Minister Sinarimbo as stressing the desire of the Chief Minister and President Duterte for optimized dispersal of aids during the celebration amid the pervading health pandemic.

In the first six days of the celebration, most of the regional ministries awarded their respective clients with various life-enhancing goods and stuff.

The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE), under Minister Macacua, distributed land titles and reforestation seedlings including the Giant Bamboo, which the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has been promoting due to its essence to greening communities and additional income for planters.

The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) led by Minister Mohagher Iqbal awarded contracts of services and deployment orders to trained teachers in Arabic studies and their counterparts in basic, higher and technical education, an earlier report said.

The Ministry of Health led by Minister Dr. Bashary Latiph held symbolic dispensation of medical supplies and health

Services aimed at sustaining the momentum in the national government’s recognition of BARMM as the country’s region with least number of COVID-19 cases but with a very high average of vaccinated constituents.

The MILG, for its part, jived with the weeklong celebration parts of its regular thrusts such as the forging of contracts with pre-selected municipal LGUs for the construction of legislative buildings.

Other ministries staged similar special and regular activities during the celebration, but the Philippine Muslim Today news obtained no report from the individual agencies. (AGM)
