MAKATI CITY, Metro Manila — Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. on Thursday assured his supporters that he will remain as candidate for President and will not slide to the vice presidency as speculated by some analysts.

Marcos made the assurance in the wake of pronouncement of Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio that she will finally run for President after she has withdrawn her COC (Certificate of Candidacy) for re-election as mayor of Davao City and was replaced by the incumbent Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte, her younger brother.

Shariff Ibrahim Albani (SIA),  a senatorial candidate from Mindanao and the vice chairman of the Labor Party of the Philippines (LPP) told the Philippine Muslim Today in an exclusive interview that his LPP, a duly accredited political party by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), had an executive meeting with Marcos  and the stalwarts of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) on Thursday afternoon where they discussed the coalition of the two political parties.

SIA said the closed door executive meeting on the coalition of LPP now headed by its President Imelda Papin, vice governor of Camarines Sur together with PFP was approved in principle.

BBM, as Bongbong is popularly known, is the standard bearer of PFP.

Prof. Hamid K. Ladjakahal, President of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas for Tawi-Tawi said since BBM is their standard bearer, they are calling on the Filipino people both young and old to support BBM in the 2022 presidential elections.

Ladjakahal emphasized that everyone should support BBM in his concept of “unifying leadership, and make the Philippines great again.”

As this developed, SIA said Sara Duterte-Carpio took her oath as member of Lakas Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) before its National President Ferdinand Martin Gomez Romualdez after resigning from her Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP).

Mayor Duterte on Thursday resigned from her regional party HNP two days after she dropped her reelection bid in the city, state media Philippine news Agency (PNA) reported on Thursday evening.

PNA said Anthony G. Del Rosario, HNP’s Secretary-General, confirmed Duterte’s resignation through a handwritten letter sent Thursday morning.

She took her oath as Lakas-CMD member in the presence of Senator Ramon Revilla Jr.

Lakas-CMD is a political party that has reportedly fielded a placeholder for both president and vice president who may be subjected to substitution the deadline set by the Commission on Elections on Monday, Nov. 15.

Romualdez is the incumbent House Majority Leader. He is the member of the House of Representatives of Leyte 1st District. Aside from his political affiliation, Romualdez is the cousin of Bongbong Marcos.

SIA said after Sara took her oath as card bearing member of the Lakas-CMD before Romualdez, speculation is ripe that Sara will in the end settle for the vice presidency.

This is the dream tandem and a very strong combination of “solid North” and the solid South that everyone is praying and hoping.

Likewise, it is likened to a typhoon with a very strong signal and an earthquake with a very high intensity in the Richter Scale, according to SIA. (JIJ)
