ILIGAN CITY – The Lanao del Sur provincial government and the Philippine Marine Corps’ 1st Marine Brigade lead on Wednesday the settlement of a decades-old family feud between two Maranao clans in the province.
It was hosted by the Marine Battalion Landing Team 5 (MBLT5) in Malabang, Lanao del Sur along with the Rido Settlement Program, “From Culture of Violence to Culture of Peace,” a partnership with local governments, non-government organizations, religious leaders, community leaders, and the people of Lanao del Sur.
In a statement, the provincial government said leading the settlement of the 23-year old rido (family feud) of the families of Dalma Salagaan and Dalma Picong was Lanao del Sur governor Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong, Jr., 1st Marine Brigade commander BGen. Jonas Lumawag, MBLT5 commanding officer LtCol. Tino Maslan, and Lanao del Sur provincial police director PCol Rex Derilo.
Along the quest for peace and security, settlement of family feuds has been among the priority thrusts of Gov. Adiong’s administration and it has already settled various feuds of big-families that existed for decades.
Adiong expressed appreciation to all those involved in the settlement of the 23-year rido (family feud) between the two families. He appreciated the role of the military, the police, government officials, the traditional leaders and all those who desire peace to reign.
Present also during the rido settlement were Lanao del Sur 2nd Dist. Rep. Yasser A Balindong, Mayors Sultan Usman Saranggani and Alinader Balindong, Board Members (BMs) Atty Allan G Panolong, Abdulhamid Amerbitor, Caoden Marohombsar, and Amiroden Balindong, former BM Tanjie Macapodi, traditional royal leaders, and government officials.
