The Joint Task Force Central (JTF) has recovered on Thursday afternoon an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) in Barangay Buayan, Datu Piang, Manguindanao.

Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom), lauded the Army troops from the 6th Infantry Battalion (6th IB) headed by their Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Charlie Banaag.

Troopers from the 6th IB were conducting mobile patrol when they found a sack containing the UXO specifically a rifle grenade. Troops immediately cordoned the area and coordinated with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team (EODT) for the proper disposal of the said UXO.

“I commend the troops of the 6th Infantry Battalion for saving the lives of many through the recovery of the explosive,” Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. stated.

“We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and help us preempt the desperate attacks of the terrorists,” the Commander added.

Lt. Col. Banaag said that at around 9 p.m., personnel of the Datu Piang Municipal Police Station proceeded to the area to provide area security.

Col. Eduardo Gubat, Commander of the 603rd Infantry Brigade, said, “Fortunately, our soldiers were able to foil the bomb plot of the terrorist and no one is hurt”.

Further investigation is currently being conducted by the military and its partners to identify the perpetrators of the terror threats such as this.

Joint Task Force Central Commander Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy called on the peace-loving people of Central Mindanao to immediately report any suspicious objects or behavior in their community.

“Please continue to adhere to all safety protocols issued by the authorities to ensure everyone’s safety and security,” said Maj. Gen. Uy. JULMUNIR I. JANNARAL
